Musings…. November 29, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — pluckleyvillager @ 7:36 pm

I really enjoyed the weekend. It was fabulous. Really perfect. What’s your perfect weekend?

I spend alot of time at work. It’s a fairly new job. I am finding it hard to settle in. I have to admit. Do you have any tips?

Thinking about dinner. Really hungry. What shall I eat? I made some stew at the weekend. So I reckon that is a likely contender.

Most of all I am looking forward to cuddling my fiancée. She is lovely. The best girl in the world! Can’t wait to be in front of the fire.

Which reminds me…… I need to find a good source for wood. Do you have any tips?

Some friends of mine were wow-ed by a couple of paintings that I did.

They say that they are lovely. I really love them too.

What do you think?

Do you like them?

I really enjoyed painting them and I think I may do some more.

Ten best things about pluckley November 27, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — pluckleyvillager @ 11:05 pm

The ten greatest things about living in Pluckley, in the heart of kent … are:

1) The Dering Arms – my fiancee and I went there last night for a 7 course black tie gourmet meal. It was marvellous. The greatest place! The food was amazing and the surroundings are fab. Even better, we bump into new friends there all the time, and it is only 30 seconds walk home.

2) The local shops - We love it there at the pluckley farm shop. We enjoy popping in – talking to the owner, and that there is a really good selection there. Rabbit, venison, groceries, and cheeses ;-) yum yum… oh and beer and wine. The village shop is great too – it has EVERYTHING! and the Butchers in the village is really lovely. Bacon which keeps its size, sausages that are lean, and any cut of beef you could want.

3) Log fire – we have a word burning stove. It is lovely being able to light it and sit back and relax. There is no restrictions about smokeless fuel – so this is perfect!

4) Peaceful – it is so lovely and quiet in the countryside. It feels secluded – but still connected!

5) Train station - we have a mainline station to ashford and beyond, and also central london. Happy days!

6) Local honey – we have a neighbour who makes and sells his honey. It is the best honey on the planet. Try some!

7) Neighbours - we see some of our neighbours every day. That makes it really really nice to be here.

8) Walking – there are so many good walks to do – all of which are picturesque. Love it!

9) Running – I go running with the local villagers near by. Its great to get out on a sunday morning.

10) Local bloggers - I enjoy keeping up to date with a local concentration of bloggers.

Filed under: Uncategorized — pluckleyvillager @ 9:07 pm
What an amazing day!
Thanks so much friends Mark & Delia for organising this one.
Met up at Maidstone Services.
Great drive down from Maidstone services through the countryside down to Capel.
Great roads.
We got to the memorial place. Parked up with relative ease and perched ourselves on a big mound.
WOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAH WAP WAPPA WAPPA – as spitfires and Lancasters flew over head.
Including an old guy guiding them in.
Some bits to eat and mars bar ice creams all round….
Plenty of old military vehicles there…
and then off to ….
…. the Coastguard at St Margarets bay. Lovely place. Big car park. Great views.
Had a few drinks and crisps outside. before going inside for a lovely meal. mmmm medium rare steak!
Then a lovely drive back down the M20 – through the tunnel….. BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRUM… M M M M M …. (witnessed some dodgy driving by oik in a mitsu colt and pug 106… scary!)…
… and then back home….
Drove up the driveway…. to notice lots of water underfoot….thinking….mmmm must have been raining,…. and then i noticed water gushing from the garage door……… ok though – it was the pipe from the hose that had come unattached from the water tap which was busy spraying EVERYWHERE!!! Anyway… no harm done.
Really great day everyone. Really great fun and very relaxing.
Great to catch up with friends and great to have a drive as a group. That’s what its all about. I even got over 25 MPG out of the TVR…. which is amazing!

Filed under: Uncategorized — pluckleyvillager @ 9:04 pm

Had a great day today.

On Weight – I am now 12stone 7 pounds. So I have now got 7lbs closer to my target of 11stone.

Had a great time at the beach. We had fish and chips at the Pilot in Dungeness in Kent. Then for a walk along the beach.

We spent the day with friends – which was great. I love spending time around friends of ours. and meeting new people.

On the way back from beach, we stopped at a restaurant to scout it out for the future – We will definitely go there – Its in camber.

We also stopped in on the way back to the village at a derelict church – hit by a doodlebug in 1944. It is a wierd place!

Now relaxing. Chilling out ;-)
